Best Vineyards in Yountville

Located just a little bit north of Napa in Northern California, Yountville is one of the few places on earth where you can find a tiny strip of land that is home to the highest concentration of critically-acclaimed restaurants and highly-touted wines in the world! Because many of these restaurants have earned five and six Michelin stars for fine dining quality, Yountville is a place that foodies and wine lovers simply must visit.

Although you could spend your whole visit on Main Street just sampling the amazing food from these world-class chefs, it’s a good idea to get out into wine country to explore the vineyards, too. Head out on the open road and do a Yountville tasting of some of the fine wines the area has to offer. Here are some of the best wineries in Yountville that are certainly worth a visit.

Somerston Wines
Somerston Wines is a fantastic place to make your first stop. The wines here are sustainable and are grown on a giant 200-acre estate in St. Helena. You’ll find that their wines showcase the deep, velvety fruit flavors that Napa Valley is famous for, but they are also much more nuanced. They have three series of wine, each with something different to offer. The Priest Ranch is the most typical of California wines and has very bold, exuberant flavors while the Highflyer series has varietals that you don’t see every day, with more subtle undertones. The tasting room is a sight to behold and offers an elegant yet relaxed setting to sample its wines.

Cornerstone Cellars
Cornerstone Cellars is one of the most laid-back and artistic tasting rooms in all of Napa. It’s a wonderful place to visit because the staff is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, and you’ll probably end up learning quite a bit about the area and the types of wine they serve if you sit and chat with them for a bit! They offer a wide selection of varietals from different regions around the Pacific Northwest. You’ll be able to taste some delicious wines that are only available for sale at the Cellar. Needless to say, these make for a great gift to take home and impress your friends or co-workers with!

Domaine Chandon
One of the oldest and most reputable wineries in Yountville, Domaine Chandon is a must-see for real wine connoisseurs and neophytes alike. You can take a guided tour, sip on some of their delicious offerings and pair your tastings with a snack in their tasting salon. The grounds are lush and fertile and make for a great place to meander through and explore the area and art exhibits. If you’re in the mood for a full meal they also have an exquisite restaurant on the premises.

Just a quick walk up the road from Yountville’s main street, Ma(i)sonry gives you a chance to taste wines from some of the best small producers in the area that don’t have their own tasting rooms. They serve nearly 20 different labels and custom-tailor a tasting experience to your specific preferences. You can get one full glass of wine or taste a whole flight from a certain producer, or mix and match from different vineyards. The setting is very peaceful and relaxed and you can sit outside and take in the beautiful surroundings of Yountville.
