10 Amazing Castles for a Fairytale Wedding

Planning to hold your wedding at a castle can seem at first glance to be the exact opposite of everything practical in life: a soap-bubble dream or a moment out of an old fairy tale.  There are, however, some excellent logistical reasons for considering a castle wedding.

Imagine the simplicity of having all your family lodged for the night in the same location. After the wedding and catered reception, the bride and groom retire to a lavish bridal suite in one part of the castle, while family and friends linger at their leisure with drinks and candlelight. Furthermore, castles offer a variety of spaces, so it’s possible to find an intimate library or bower for a very small wedding, or a grand ballroom or broad grassy lakeside for a large one.

There are scores of castles available as wedding venues, but here are 10 that have been acclaimed as the very best. Because weddings involve so many unique custom details, many castles do not hint at prices on their websites. If a price is not listed in the castle entry below, you will need to contact their wedding planner to discuss price ranges and reservation options.
